Application of magnolol in toothpaste

Magnolol was extracted from the dried bark of Magnolia officinalis by supercritical carbon dioxide. Magnolol was applied to toothpaste, and the antibacterial test of the toothpaste against the main cariogenic bacteria Streptococcus mutans, Streptococcus thermophilus and Lactobacillus was carried out. The results showed that magnolol was very suitable for supercritical carbon dioxide extraction. The minimum inhibitory concentration of the toothpaste added with the extract on cariogenic bacteria was 0.62%, and the minimum bactericidal concentration was 1.25%. The bactericidal rate of the toothpaste in contact with cariogenic bacteria reached 100% when it was diluted 1-100 times, and it had a good bacteriostatic (bactericidal) effect on the main cariogenic bacteria.
